I’m here to share the easiest dinner recipe, potentially ever.
Using all condiments that you likely already have in your fridge and pantry, this is a super easy meal if you’re low on time or if you haven’t gone to the grocery store in a week or two.
This recipe is from Cody’s grandma, Nan. And everybody knows that any recipe that comes from grandma MUST be good.
Just trust me on this one! This is a better Sloppy Joe’s recipe than any canned or packaged Sloppy Joe mix out there and only consists of 7 ingredients.
I haven’t seen any other Sloppy Joe’s recipes that have as few ingredients as this one. But trust me, it does not lack flavor!
Homemade Sloppy Joe’s Full Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, elk, vegan — whatever you want)
1 large yellow onion
1 large bell pepper (or two small ones), any color
1 cup ketchup
1.5 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 tablespoon vinegar
1-2 pinches sugar (I use coconut)
What To Do:
Dice your onion and bell pepper and set aside.
Heat a pan over medium heat and add your meat. Break apart the meat and cook for about 5 minutes until some pink is gone.
Add in your veggies and cook the mixture until the meat is browned and the veggies become softened.
Add ketchup, mustard, vinegar, and sugar. Stir and let the meat simmer in the sauce for about 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes or so to ensure the bottom doesn’t burn.
While the meat simmers, toast some buns or heat up some rice.
Serve over warm buns or hot rice and enjoy!
Notes:
Don’t let your meat and sauce over-reduce! You want the sauce, saucy.
Omit the veggies if you don’t like them. Or half them, or double them. You do you!
